Something like loose cornrows that would include bangs (that are growing out). I read all the reviews for this book and was encouraged. However, what I found was something straight outta 1985. Softly-lit models with braids that all start with a ponytail and are slightly messy/ casual. They are suggested to be worn with slouchy sweaters or to entwine flowers into. Booorrring! I should have known better than to buy a book that comes with scrunchies. The second star is for the herringbone braid. That's it. It's not very helpful if you're over 50 catch up trying to do your own hair. Braids only figure in about half of the styles; the rest are buns and over 50 catch up up-dos. Most of the styles are variations on a theme: the bun, the braided bun, the french-braided bun. The rope, the rope bun, the french rope bun... you get over 50 catch up the picture. The main styles you will learn in this book are: The bun The twist The roll and of course, the braid Subsets of the braid are: the herringbone the rope and of course, the french braid (and french herringbone, and french rope...) If you're looking for an "intermediate" book on braiding, this may do the trick. It may be a little simple for some. One of the other reviews mentions the "inside-out french braid" is used for cornrows. It is...but this book doesn't mention anything about cornrows or how to do those tiny rows.
